Stars Open Second Half of SAC Slate Looking to Get Back on Track

THE MATCHUP

• Oklahoma City University hits the road and heads to McPherson, Kan. to take on the Central Christian College Tigers to open the second half ot the Sooner Athletic Conference schedule 
• The Stars are looking to snap a three-game skid and complete the season sweep of the Tigers
• OCU picked up the 83-79 win over Central Christian in overtime at Abe Lemons Arena on Jan. 4 after Trae Bryant tied the game at the regulation buzzer.

ABOUT THE STARS
• OCU started quickly in their game on Saturday against No. 2 Mid-America Christian, but the Stars were unable to hold the Evangels down in the second half as MACU pulled away to the 89-75 win
• Anthony Davis, a 6-foot-7 senior from Lewisville, Texas, notched his fifth double-double of the season with 24 points and 12 rebounds in the loss. Davis was 6-for-9 from the field, and he converted 11 of 18 free throw attempts in the game. Davis leads the stars among players who qualify for national leaderboards with 13.3 points per game and 6.1 rebounds per contest, 
• Rashaun Coleman, a 6-foot junior from Houston, added 17 points in the game, including a 7-for-11 performance at the foul line, and he had seven rebounds and five assists to lead the Stars. Kealon Claybourne (11) and Eddie Smith (10) also reached double figures for OCU in the game
• Oklahoma City has allowed the seventh-lowest opposing 3-point field-goal percentage in NAIA Division I at 30.2 percent this season. Eric Wattree has hit 49.1 percent of his 3-point shots to rank eighth nationally. Compare OCU with the rest of the NAIA statistically this season here
• The Stars have been slotted to take fifth place in the SAC according to the preseason coaches poll. OCU owns 13 SAC regular-season championships and 10 SAC Tournament titles. Oklahoma City reached the NAIA Division I Championship Tournament for the 25th time last season and has won six national championships in 1991, 1992, 1994, 1996, 2007 and 2008
• OCU holds the all-time series lead, 4-1. The Tigers won the teams' first meeting as SAC foes, but OCU has won four straight in the series, including the afore mentioned 83-79 overtime win earlier this season

ABOUT THE TIGERS
• Central Christian is coming off a big win on the road - a 78-75 win over No. 19 Texas Wesleyan on Saturday in Fort Worth
• Dominique O'Conner and Darrell Bryant each poured in 20 points to lead the Tigers, with O'Conner making four of seven 3-pointers and Bryant turning in a 9-for-10 shooting effort. Bryant also had nine rebounds and two blocked shots in the game
• Bryant ranks eighth Nationally in offensive rebounds per game (3.765) and 17th in the NAIA in total rebounds per game (8.529)

MEET THE COACHES
Hank Aldous (first season with OCU)
• Served as graduate assistant at the University of Denver prior to coming to OCU
• Became Southern Athletic Association player of the year as a senior at Hendrix (Ark.) during his playing career
• Aldous led Hendrix to two conference titles and its first conference tournament crown ever, becoming the SAA Tournament most valuable player. Hendrix made its first appearance in the NCAA Tournament
 
Tony Romero (11th season with Central Christian)
• Took over at Central Christian's head coach for the 2009-10 season after spending the previous five seasons on the Tigers' bench as an assistant
• Overall head-coaching record of 194-141 in his 11th year as a head coach at Central Christian
• Played at CCCK from 2000-04 where he was names All-MCAC as a senior.
• An Oklahoma City native, Romero graduated from Del City High School in 2000
