OCU sweeps St. Gregory’s 3-1, 7-0

The Stars outscored the Cavaliers 25-1 in the four-game series

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University topped St. Gregory's 3-1, 7-0 to complete the series sweep of the Cavaliers Friday at Jim Wade Stadium.
The Stars, ranked No. 4 in NAIA baseball, got a walkoff home run from Jonathan Sigado in the first game and shut out St. Gregory's in the second game to improve to 26-6 on the season and 6-2 in Sooner Athletic Conference play.
Chris Muñoz got the Stars on the scoreboard in the bottom of the first with a sacrifice fly to center field to plate Chase Jensen from third base and make the score 1-0.
Christian Torres of St. Gregory's evened the score at 1-1 in the top of the second with a solo home run to left field.
Starting pitcher Dalton Bernardi led off the bottom of the seventh with a double down the left field line. Sigado followed with a home run over the left field fence to give OCU the 3-1 victory.
Bernardi allowed one run on three hits with four strikeouts and picked up the win to improve to 4-1.
Sigado went 1-for-2 with two RBIs to lead OCU at the dish.
In the second game, the Stars pushed four runs across in the bottom of the first. Jonathan Rodriguez singled through the right side of the infield to score Walker Davidson and Jensen. Sigado followed with an RBI single and Andrew Dennis scored on a balk to stake OCU to a 4-0 lead.
In the bottom of the third, Sigado stole third and scored when Bernardi got caught in a rundown between first and second to make the score 5-0.
Kale Gaden capped the scoring with a two-run home run to right field in the bottom of the fifth to give OCU the 7-0 victory.
Ryan Gibson allowed one hit with six strikeouts in four scoreless innings of work to pick up the win and improve to 2-1 on the season. Patrick Goelz, Shane Henderson and Davis Henderson each tossed a scoreless inning in relief.
Gaden and Rodriguez drove in two runs apiece to lead OCU at the plate.
The Stars will return to action against Southern Nazarene at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Jim Wade Stadium.
