Stars rout Lindenwood 15-2

OCU responds after dropping first two games of series

Terrance Jackson picked up the win Sunday in his first pitching start this year.

ST. CHARLES, Mo. – Oklahoma City University blitzed Lindenwood (Mo.) 15-2 on Sunday at the Lou Brock Sports Complex.

Terrance Jackson won in his pitching debut of the year, while Matt Presley nailed a home run for the Stars. OCU, ranked No. 1 in NAIA baseball, improved to 32-6.

Jackson, a senior left-hander from Greenville, Ala., shut Lindenwood out on three hits, a hit batsman and a walk through four innings. Jackson notched four strikeouts. Clint Maune followed with two innings, while Steve Styck pitched the seventh and struck out the side for OCU.

The Stars built a 15-0 lead and scored each inning the first five innings. OCU plated five first-inning runs using Miguel Beltran's two-run base hit, Presley's RBI single and Chad Carman's two-run double.

In the second, Beltran drove in a run on a fielder's choice grounder. Scott Dalrymple added a sacrifice fly before Presley pounded a two-run blast for his fourth homer of the year.

Julien Pollard doubled to put OCU ahead 10-0 in the third. Carman drew a bases-loaded walk in the fourth.

Dalrymple had an RBI base hit, then Presley hit a sacrifice fly in the fifth. Dearth Parker put the Stars up 15-0 on a two-run single.

OCU totaled 13 hits. Presley, a senior from Colorado Springs, Colo., went 2-for-2, scored twice and drove in four runs, while Beltran, a junior from Long Beach, Calif., was 3-for-5 with three runs scored and three RBIs.

Parker, a senior from Roff, Okla., was 2-for-3 with two RBIs, and Pollard, a senior from Tacoma, Wash., went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and a run driven in. Ruben Sosa, a junior from Lawrence, Mass., went 2-for-3 and scored three times, while Carman, a junior from Midwest City, Okla., drove in three runs. Dalrymple, a senior from Beaverton, Ore., brought in two runs.

OCU resumes Sooner Athletic Conference play with a 3 p.m. contest Tuesday against Southern Nazarene in Bethany, Okla.
