Stars stopped short by Central Oklahoma 93-82

OCU led by Brandon Moton's 22 points

Dee Proby had 17 points on Thursday.

OKLAHOMA CITY – The Oklahoma City University men's basketball team fell 93-82 to cross-town opponent Central Oklahoma in an exhibition game on Thursday night at Abe Lemons Arena.

OCU forward Brandon Moton, had a team-high 22 points in the loss. Moton hit eight total field goals, two from beyond the arc, and was 4-of-6 from the line in his second game as a Star. 
Moton, a junior from Beaumont, Texas, has been OCU's leading scorer in both exhibitions this season after transferring from Angelina (Texas).

Johnny Stephene chipped in 19 points for the Stars, while Dee Proby added 17 to the scoresheet, including a 4-for-4 effort from the charity stripe. Nate Flowers also scored in double digits for OCU, turning in a 12-point performance in the game.

Central Oklahoma grabbed the lead seven minutes into the contest and never relinquished it for the remainder of the game. The Stars found themselves in a 13-point deficit at halftime, by a score of 38-25. In the second half, the Bronchos lead bloomed to 20 points, but the Stars kept battling to close the gap. OCU managed to narrow the lead to 11 when the final buzzer sounded.

Central Oklahoma was led by senior Dauntae Williams, who had a game-high 27 points for the Bronchos. UCO is currently ranked 18th in the NABC/NCAA Division II polls.

OCU begins their regular-season schedule against Ozark Christian (Mo.) at 2 p.m. on Saturday at Abe Lemons Arena.
