OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City defender Piper Nichols received the Sooner Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week award on Monday.
 
Nichols, a senior from Little Rock, Ark., led a solid back-line defensive push that held a pair of strong non-conference teams to 16 shots.
 
This is the first Defensive Player of the Week award for Nichols, who is a two-time All-Sooner Athletic Conference selection.
 
The Stars have won two other awards for women's soccer this season. Candela Blanco won the defensive award in week two and Amelia Horsford was named Offensive Player of the Week last week.
