DAYTONA BEACH, Fla.—The
Oklahoma City University Cheer, Stunt, and Pom all performed at a championship level this past weekend at the National Cheerleader Association and National Dance Alliance championships in Florida. Tasha Hinex's and
Alicia Bailey's squads shined brightly and represented the Stars at a high level, claiming a national championship for the second straight year and their 10th total championship.
Pom competed in "Team Performance NAIA" as well as "Hip Hop NAIA" and finished first in team performance and third in the hip hop category. Competitive cheer finished first in the "Advanced Small Coed NAIA" field. Furthermore, Stunt finished first in "Intermediate All-Girl NAIA."
OCU finished first out of the five schools that advanced from the preliminary rounds—they amassed a raw score of 67.16, enough to narrowly edge out second-place Roosevelt University. The Stars posted an event score of 83.975.
