This Week in OCU Competitive Cheer

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City's Competitive Cheer team finishes its season this week at the NCA Nationals in Daytona Beach.
 
The Stars compete in the divisional prelims at 7:16 p.m. (6:16 Central) on Thursday with the finals starting at 6:20 p.m. (5:20 Central) on Friday.
 
OCU competes in the Bandshell on both days, where only advanced teams are allowed.

Previously: Oklahoma City put up a strong performance in the finals with a 91.48 and finished fifth at the NAIA Competitive Cheer Championship in March. The Stars posted its fourth consecutive 90-plus score but were edged out of the hardware by third-place St. Ambrose at 91.75 and fourth-place Cumberlands at 91.73.  Xavier came out of nowhere to win with a 96.13 while Indiana Wesleyan was second at 92.72 in the 15-team finals.
 
All-Americans: Five members of Oklahoma City University's Competitive Cheer squad earned All-America status, the NAIA announced on Thursday. Scotlyn Banfield, Matthew Carmen, Cali-Kae Peters all landed on the first team. Tanner Wood and Lexi Morgan were second-team selections. For Banfield, a senior, this is the second consecutive season she has earned the award. It is the first award for sophomores Carmen, Wood and Morgan and freshman Peters.
 
OCU Lineup: In the floor for the Stars will be Scotlyn Banfield, Khloe Bishop, Matthew Carmen, Katherine England, Elyce Enright, Brenden Harris, Kaytley Huntsman, Kaileigh Knight, Aaliyah Lewis, Teagen Lindgren, Jaycee Martinez, Alexis Morgan, Cali-Kae Peters, Tanner Sisco, Bailey Harris, Karamya Whitten, Jasmyn Smith, Rowdy Tucker (prelims) and Tanner Woods (finals). Alternates are Landree Baker, Kammi Maley, Valerie Lima and Jentrie Madory.
 
The Competition: The Stars go head-to-head against a field mostly consisting of teams that made the NAIA Championships. Tennessee-Southern, Rocky Mountain, Dickinson State and Florida Memorial will all challenge the Stars.
