OKLAHOMA CITY – The Oklahoma City Stars baseball team comes off a road series sweep over Oklahoma Panhandle State and returns home to take on Texas Wesleyan for a doubleheader on Friday followed by a single nine-inning game on Saturday.

About the Stars     

  • Oklahoma City returns home after sweeping Oklahoma Panhandle State last weekend (15-0, 8-5, 9-1).  
  • OCU opened conference play two weeks ago where it hosted MACU and dropped two games in the series to the Evangels.  
  • Oklahoma City is off to an 18-10 start after beating three ranked teams in the non-conference part of the season and holds a 4-2 SAC record. 
  • Darian Duhon comes in as the team leader in batting average at .429 while carrying an eight-game hitting streak into the weekend. 
  • Duhon also leads the team in runs scored after scoring in five straight games and comes off back-to-back three RBI games which came against OPSU. 
  • Trent Kiraly enters the weekend tied for third in the NAIA with 14 home runs, one away from tying last year's total. 
  • Kiraly currently holds a 12-game hitting streak while batting .424 this season and ties Duhon for the team lead in hits.  
  • Hunter Lenochan was sprung onto the scene by putting together a stellar 2024 campaign ranking third in average at .363 and has scored in five straight games while driving in a run in three straight games.  
  • Tristan Williams saw his 14-game hitting streak end over the weekend but remains at a high clip of .349.  
  • Aiden Van Rensum comes off a big series against OPSU starting in game one going 3-for-4 with two RBIs before going 2-for-3 in the series finale with two RBIs and a home run.  
  • Two-way player Chad Pike has been getting it done on both sides by raising his home total to nine after hitting two bombs in the opening game against Panhandle to go along with four RBIs. 
  • Pike has also been big for the Stars out of the bullpen, tying for second in the NAIA with seven saves this season.  
  • Kade Shatwell made his season debut back on Feb. 25 and has flown onto the scene as the Stars coming off a shutout performance against OPSU in five innings by allowing no runs on five hits and six strikeouts.  
  • Andrew Limbaugh comes off his best outing of the year by going a season-high six innings and striking out a season-best 10 batters, which is the most by any single pitcher in a game this year.  
  • Oklahoma City ranks first in the SAC in home runs with 51 having six players with five or more.

   About the Rams 

  • Texas Wesleyan comes into the weekend with a 16-11 record and a 6-3 start to conference play.  
  • The Rams found success a week ago by taking two out of three from USAO with wins of 13-11 and 13-9 and suffered their one loss 13-4.  
  • Ryan Flores leads Texas Wesleyan in batting average as the only Ram to hit over 400 with a .410 average.  
  • Flores comes off a massive game in the series finale against USAO going 4-for-6 with two runs scored and an RBI.  
  • Hayden Hutchens is the team leader with 10 home runs and leads with 36 RBIs including having a total of seven RBIs combined in the previous series.  
  • Rody Garcia brings a 14-game hitting streak into the series against OCU and holds the team lead in hits with 37. 
  • Garcia has also scored in seven straight games while driving in a run in six straight which included two different multi-RBI games against the Drovers.  
  • Texas Wesleyan's pitching has been made of multiple arms with Sutton Tidwell leading the Rams in starts with six.  
  • Tidwell holds a 5.23 ERA and a 4-1 record but has yet to go beyond five innings in a game. 
  • Dwain Guice leads the Rams with 34 strikeouts where he saw his best game of the season come against SAGU where Guice struck out a season-high 11 batters in six innings of work.  
  • Guice has struggled recently by being able to make it more than two innings in his last two starts and has not gone over 4.1 IP since the SAGU game.  

Series History      

  • Oklahoma City holds a 33-12 advantage over Texas Wesleyan in the series dating back to 2009.  
  • The two teams met four times last year as Texas Wesleyan took two out of three in the regular season before Oklahoma City won the meeting in the Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament. 
Field Dedication Ceremony
  •  Oklahoma City University has added the name "Denney Crabaugh Field" to its baseball facilities in honor of the long-time baseball coach who led the program for 34 years. The facility will now be known as Denney Crabaugh Field at Jim Wade Stadium
  • The field dedication ceremony will take place on Saturday, Mar. 23, before the game starts which is scheduled for 1 PM.
