OKLAHOMA CITY – The Oklahoma City baseball team will play another midweek nine-inning game for the second consecutive week as the Stars will host Oklahoma Wesleyan out of the KCAC on Tuesday, Feb. 27.

About the Stars  

  • Oklahoma City enters Tuesday's game off of a strong weekend in the Show Me Showdown where it took down #22 ranked Central Methodist in the last game on Sunday after beating Columbia College on Saturday by a score of 5-4 while suffering its only loss in the opening game to #10 Missouri Baptist 4-3. 
  • Darian Duhon comes in as the Stars leader in batting average at .417, the only one north of .400. Duhon also leads the team in hits and recently saw four straight games with multiple base hits before going hitless against Central Methodist.  
  • Trent Kiraly has been the power source for Oklahoma City in the clean-up spot as the senior has already mashed seven home runs, getting closer to his 2023 total of 15. Kiraly holds a .387 average while leading the team with 20 RBIs. Kiraly once had four straight games with a home run right in the middle of an eight-game hitting streak coming against Clarke University, Concordia, and Bellevue.  
  • Third basemen Tristan Williams has put together a six-game hitting streak with one hit in each game over the weekend while seeing a 3-for-4 day against Sterling in last week's midweek contest. Williams comes in second on the team with four home runs, already doubling his previous career high.  
  • Hunter Lenochan has also posted a hit in six straight games seeing three consecutive two-hit games during the run. Lenochan has also scored a run in his last five games and has already set a career-high in home runs with three.  
  • Aiden Alexander opened the season with a 12-game on-base streak before it was snapped on Feb. 18 against Doane University. Alexander comes in with a .323 average and leads the team with four stolen bases.  
  • Aiden Van Rensum has put together a four-game hitting streak while knocking in a run in his last five outings. Van Rensum ties Lenochan for the third most home runs on the team with three, passing last season's total of two.  
  • Reese Ratchford delivered in the clutch on Sunday as the Stars trailed in the sixth to Central Methodist. Ratchford launched a go-ahead three-run home run, his first of the year to push the Stars on to a 6-4 win. 
  • For the pitching, the Stars have stuck with a rotation of Andrew Limbaugh, Jacob Burkett, and Connor Ferguson. The three guys have combined for a 5.33 ERA as Burkett leads in innings pitched with 24.2 with one complete game and 17 strikeouts.  
  • Limbaugh leads the squad in strikeouts with 19 while coming off a season-high seven Ks against MidAmerica Nazarene on Feb. 16. 
  • In the bullpen, Cade Kelsey has started to shine earning two wins in four appearances with a 1.29 ERA. 
  • Chad Pike has taken control of the closer role early in the season coming up with five saves while having a 2-1 record with a 2.45 ERA.

About the Eagles 

  • Oklahoma Wesleyan comes in with a 9-6 overall record to start the 2024 campaign as the Eagles have put together four straight wins with a series sweep over Friends University in three games after beating Saint Mary 14-1 to ignite to streak. 
  • Ravaugn Morgan and Victor Sanchez lead the team with 21 hits each as Morgan has 11 more at-bats than Sanchez hitting at a .350 clip while scoring a team-high 22 runs. Morgan put together a 12-game hitting streak to open the year and has clinched a base hit in 13 of the 14 games played. 
  • Sanchez on the other hand leads the team with a .429 average and a .545 OBP while showing off a rather impressive discipline at the plate, drawing 14 walks so far this season. Sanchez was recently on a 12-game hit streaking before going hitless in the final game of the series against Friends. 
  • Josh Logan is tied for the team-high in doubles with six while showing off excellent power with a .765 SLG% on a team-best 27 RBIs and five home runs. Logan enters an eight-game hitting streak and comes off a big series against Friends, earning two hits in each of the three games. 
  • The Eagles are led in pitching by junior Evan Foor who has made four starts in five appearances and holds a 2-1 record. Foor has thrown a team-high 25.1 innings and tallied a 4.29 ERA. 
  • The rest of the OKWU pitching staff has been a collective effort with seven guys outside of Foor who have thrown five innings or more, none higher than 12.2 innings of work.  
  • Michael Mendoza ties Foor with four starts as the senior holds a 2-1 record on the mound with an ERA of 3.55.  

Series History   

  • OCU has won three in a row against the Eagles after beating them three times in 2022.  
  • The Stars hold a 14-2 record against OKWU dating back to 2009. 

What's Next  

  • Oklahoma City will face off against #25 Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.) in one last non-conference series starting with a doubleheader on Friday at 12 PM and 2:30 PM before one nine-inning game on Saturday at noon on Denney Crabaugh Field at Jim Wade Stadium.
