OCU holds Langston to one run over 12 innings

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University rolled to a doubleheader sweep of Langston 8-1 and 8-0 on Friday afternoon at Ann Lacy Stadium.

Amy Crabaugh drove in three runs in the first game, while Rally Radacy had three RBIs in the second contest for OCU, ranked second in NAIA softball. The Stars went to 22-1, 9-1 in the Sooner Athletic Conference.

In the first contest, Oklahoma City erased a 1-0 second-inning deficit. In the bottom of the second, Carlee Mollet scored the tying run on Kaitlyn Jones' sacrifice bunt.

Brooklyn Mason knocked in the go-ahead run on a base hit through the middle of the infield. Crabaugh put OCU up 3-1 on a bunt hit.

The Stars finished off the win with five runs in the sixth. Crabaugh touched off the scoring spree with a two-run single to right-center field. Nicole Robinson followed with an RBI double to the center-field wall.

Kennedy Jackson and Tiffany Paul posted run-scoring doubles. Jackson's double dropped just fair deep in left field along the foul line.

Shelbey Cornelson settled down after giving up a home run in the second. Cornelson, a junior from Tuttle, Okla., allowed two hits while striking out 12 in a complete-game outing. Cornelson (12-1) struck out the side in the third and the fifth innings. She retired the last 12 Langston batters in order.

Mason, a senior from Lone Grove, Okla., went 3-for-3, scored twice and knocked in a run, while Crabaugh, a junior from Edmond, Okla., turned in a 2-for-3 performance with three RBIs.

In the second game, Radacy brought home the first game on a groundout. Paul scored on a throwing error to put OCU on top 2-0 in the second.

The Stars took a 5-0 advantage on Radacy's two-run triple over the left fielder. Radacy reached home plate on a throwing error on the relay throw back into the infield.

Jones launched her first home run of the season over the left-field wall next to the scoreboard. Mason and Mallory McCoy had RBI singles.

Lexi Duff shut out Langston on three hits in five innings. Duff, a senior from Lone Grove, Okla., went to 10-0.
