OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University overwhelmed Central Christian (Kan.) 9-1 and 9-1 on Tuesday at Ann Lacy Stadium.
Nicole Robinson capped the doubleheader sweep by belting a two-run home run over the right-field wall. Oklahoma City, ranked No. 2 in NAIA softball, moved to 24-1, 11-1 in the Sooner Athletic Conference.
The Stars' Lexi Duff equaled her career high with four RBIs in the second game. Duff knocked in the first two runs of the game on a base hit to center field in the first inning. She added a two-run double off the center-field wall in the fourth. Duff previously had four RBIs on Feb. 28, 2020 at Oklahoma Wesleyan.
Brooklyn Mason added groundouts to bring home runs in the first and third innings. Kennedy Jackson's run-scoring double put OCU on top 4-1 in the fourth.
Robinson, a senior from Rochester, Ill., smacked her first homer of the year as part of a 2-for-3 performance with two runs scored and two RBIs. Duff, a senior from Lone Grove, Okla., went 3-for-3 with four RBIs, and Amy Crabaugh, a junior from Edmond, Okla., turned in a 3-for-3 outing with a run scored.
Duff moved her pitching record to 11-0. Duff limited Central Christian to a run on five hits while striking out two.
In the first game, Tiffany Paul posted RBI doubles in the second and fourth innings. Paul's fourth-inning double to center touched off a four-run inning for Oklahoma City. Duff had an RBI double to right, and Crabaugh put the Stars ahead 9-1 with a run-scoring single to left.
Paul, a redshirt freshman from Choctaw, Okla., went 2-for-3, scoring a run and knocked in two runs, while Crabaugh went 2-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI.
Shelbey Cornelson fanned nine in five innings. Cornelson, a junior from Tuttle, Okla., held Central Christian to three hits. She improved to 13-1 on the year.
OCU steps out of conference to meet Cottey (Kan.) in a 2 p.m. doubleheader Saturday at Ann Lacy Stadium.
