OKLAHOMA CITY – Longtime assistant softball coach Harold Copas passed away on Friday at the age of 88.
Â
More than just a pitching coach, Copas was a part of OCU's 11 NAIA championships and a valued mentor and friend. While he dealt with illness and was no longer able to be present at every game, the team kept him on the coaching roster because of the love and respect he inspired.
Â
Opposing coaches also respected Copas and often recruited the high school pitchers he had worked with and saw him as top pitching authority in Oklahoma.
Â
Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later.
