OCU takes No. 3 seed in Opening Round

Stars take aim at 17th NAIA World Series appearance

NEW ORLEANS – Oklahoma City University will be the No. 3 seed in the NAIA Baseball Championship Opening Round New Orleans Bracket facing Keiser (Fla.) at 3 p.m. Monday at Segnette Field.
No. 20-ranked Oklahoma City will be competing for an NAIA World Series bid in the five-team double-elimination tournament.
Gunner Halter, Bryson Lierle and Dalton Reed paced a contingent of six Stars who made the all-Sooner Athletic Conference team. Halter and Lierle became two-time all-conference performers. Reed, a senior from Roff, Okla., ranks among the top 10 nationally with 23 home runs (fifth), a .944 slugging percentage (fifth) and a .452 batting average (eighth).
Denney Crabaugh will be looking for career win No. 1,550. Crabaugh has led the Stars to a 1,549-485-2 mark in his 33rd year as head coach. He holds fourth place on the NAIA's all-time coaching wins list.
Oklahoma City has reached the NAIA World Series 16 times and captured the national championship in 2005. OCU owns the most Opening Round titles ever with six and the most victories in college baseball since 1991.
No. 1 seed Loyola (La.) held the No. 9 spot in the last NAIA top 25. Keiser is ranked 17th.
