Stars draw fourth seed in NAIA World Series

Fifth-ranked OCU meets fourth-ranked Southeastern (Fla.) at 11:30 a.m. PDT May 25

LEWISTON, Idaho – Oklahoma City University will be the No. 4 seed and face Southeastern (Fla.) at 1:30 p.m. CDT Friday, May 25 in the NAIA World Series at Harris Field.
The fifth-ranked Stars (50-8) reached the World Series for the second year in a row and 16th time overall. OCU took the NAIA Baseball Championship Opening Round Oklahoma City Bracket with a 4-0 victory over Jamestown (N.D.) on Thursday.
Jamestown forced the if-necessary game with a 7-4 win earlier Thursday at Jim Wade Stadium. In the Stars' win, Tanner Andrews hurled a complete-game shutout. Andrews, a junior right-hander from Asher, Okla., posted career highs of nine innings, 10 strikeouts and 137 pitches while allowing six hits in his first start of the year.
"I told him you're our closer, go close this ballgame out," OCU coach Denney Crabaugh said of Andrews. "You have 27 outs to do it."
Garrett Foster, a senior from Ardmore, Okla., hammered a two-run home run over the left-field wall for his 12th homer of the season for OCU.
Oklahoma City notched its second 50-win season in a row and 15th 50-win season in program history. Crabaugh has led OCU to 14 World Series appearances, 14 50-win seasons, the 2005 national championship and a 1,452-444-2 record in 30 years as head coach.
Crabaugh collected his 1,450th victory in the Stars' 19-8 rout of 18th-ranked Jamestown on Monday. Oklahoma City entered this season with 1,336 wins since 1991 for the most in college baseball during that period.
"I'm so proud of these guys," Crabaugh said. "They started in August and said we're going back. We'll see what happens."
Lane Milligan set the NAIA single-season record with his 15th triple of the year Tuesday against Central Methodist (Mo.). Milligan, a senior from Binger, Okla., hits .458 with 15 homers and 86 RBIs, the latter of which paces the NAIA this season. Joe Lytle, a senior from Yukon, Okla., tops the NAIA with 27 doubles.
The Stars lead the NAIA with a .363 team batting average, .607 slugging percentage, 10.43 runs scored per game, 9.72 RBIs a game, 35 triples and 0.60 triples per contest.
"I just want to thank all the fans and alumni out there who have given us phone calls and e-mails and supported us all year long," Crabaugh said. "We can't do this without you guys. We're going back to Lewiston to hang another banner in our gym. That's the plan."
