Stars collect SAC player of week awards

OCU sweeps weekly league honors for first time since March 21-27, 2016

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University snagged both the first Sooner Athletic Conference weekly baseball honors of the year as Jerame Littell grabbed player of the week and Matt Young became pitcher of the week.
Littell, a senior from Stillwater, Okla., and Young, a junior right-hander from Glendora, Calif., played instrumental roles in the Stars' 4-0 start. OCU beat Avila (Mo.) and York (Neb.), ranked 13th in the NAIA, twice each over the weekend.
For the week of Jan. 30-Feb. 5, Littell turned in a .636 average, seven runs scored, two doubles, a home run, three RBIs and 1.091 slugging percentage, going 7-for-11. He went 3-for-4 with three runs scored against York.
Young collected the victory as OCU mauled York 10-1 on Saturday to open the season. York notched nine strikeouts in five shutout innings while giving up two hits. Young struck out the side in the first inning and fanned five of the first six batters he faced.
The Stars take on Evangel (Mo.) in a noon doubleheader Tuesday in Springfield, Mo. Follow the games via live stats.
