Senior from Garland, Texas, becomes third Star to win award in 2017

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University second baseman Skyler Bean was named the Sooner Athletic Conference baseball player of the week for his performances the week of Feb. 20-26.
Bean, a senior from Garland, Texas, became the third OCU player to nab the honor this season.
In five games for Oklahoma City, Bean went 7-for-14 with five RBIs, seven runs scored, three doubles and a home run.
In the Stars' 15-1 win over 10th-ranked Tabor (Kan.), Bean hit his first home run of the season over the left-field fence. He also had multiple hits in OCU's wins over Dallas Christian and Texas A&M-Texarkana.
For the week, Bean had a .929 slugging percentage while also drawing three walks and stealing a base. He played all five games without committing an error at second base as well.
Bean is hitting .345 with 19 hits, 14 RBIs and 19 runs scored this season. He also ranks seventh in the NAIA with nine doubles.
The Stars take on Calumet (Ind.) at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Jim Wade Stadium. Fans can watch the game live here.
