Senior from Houston struck out 11 hitters in win over Arlington Baptist

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University right-handed pitcher Mark Simon was named the Sooner Athletic Conference pitcher of the week for the week of Feb. 13-19.
Simon, a senior from Houston, had a stellar outing in a win over Arlington Baptist (Texas) to become the second Star in this season to earn the honor.
In the win over Arlington Baptist, Simon threw 5.2 innings, giving up just two hits, zero runs and striking out 11. He struck out four of the first five batters he faced, and only walked one.
He pushed his record to 2-0 on the season and now has recorded 17 strikeouts in 13 innings pitched.
Simon garnered the honor for the second time in his career as he was also named pitcher of the week for the week of April 18-24, 2016.
OCU takes on Dallas Christian at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Dallas.
