Stars Coon, Janisse grab weekly SAC honors

OCU pulls in both awards for first time since March 16-22, 2015

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University took both Sooner Athletic Conference baseball weekly awards as Landon Coon was player of the week and Skylar Janisse picked up pitcher of the week for March 21-27.
Coon, a senior from Dale, Okla., reeled in his second career SAC player of the week nod, while Janisse, a senior right-hander from Maidstone, Ontario, Canada, posted OCU's first no-hitter since March 14, 2014. The Stars swept the SAC baseball awards for the first time since March 16-22, 2015.
Last week, Coon hit .600 with two home runs, 11 RBIs and a 1.067 slugging percentage. Coon went 9-for-15, scored nine runs and hit a double while leading OCU to a 5-0 week. On the season, Coon has a .427 batting average, seven doubles, two triples, five homers and 38 RBIs. Coon ranks 15th in the NAIA with 50 hits.
Janisse held Mid-America Christian without a hit Saturday while walking two in seven innings. Janisse permitted two runners to reach scoring position in becoming the first OCU pitcher since Chris Pike to throw a no-hitter. Janisse went 2-0 with a 1.50 earned run average and 13 strikeouts in 12 innings last week. On the year, Janisse holds a 4-2 record with a 4.23 ERA and 35 strikeouts in 38.1 innings.
Reggie Wilson become player of the week, while Dustin Cook was pitcher of the week when last OCU snagged both league awards.
The Stars, ranked 15th in the NAIA, face Oklahoma Wesleyan at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Jim Wade Stadium. Watch the game live.
