Baker of OCU rakes in SAC player of week

Junior from Edmond, Okla., becames first this season to snag two weekly league honors

OKLAHOMA CITY – Jared Baker from Oklahoma City University garnered Sooner Athletic Conference baseball player of the week for the second this season.
During the week of March 14-20, Baker hit .588 with a home run, seven RBIs and a 1.059 slugging percentage. Baker, a junior from Edmond, Okla., took his fourth career SAC player of the week nod.
Baker went 10-for-17 with three doubles, a triple and five runs scored for the Stars last week. OCU had a 4-1 record, including taking two out of three games from Southwestern Christian.
Entering Monday's games, Baker topped OCU in batting average (.440), runs scored (34), hits (44), doubles (14), triples (five), slugging percentage (.830) and on-base percentage (.496) while tying for the team lead in homers (five). Baker had been SAC player of the week for Feb. 22-28 this year.
Oklahoma City, ranked 15th in the NAIA, meets Mid-America Christian at 6 p.m. Thursday at Jim Wade Stadium. Listen to the game by clicking here.
