OKLAHOMA CITY – Jared Baker of Oklahoma City University nabbed Sooner Athletic Conference's baseball player of the week for Feb. 22-28. Baker, a junior from Edmond, Okla., went 7-for-13 (.538 average) in OCU's four-game series against No. 4-ranked Tabor (Kan.) on Feb. 27-28 in Oklahoma City. The Stars, ranked fifth in NAIA baseball, took the series 3-1 to improve to 11-7 on the season.
In Saturday's doubleheader, Baker recorded five RBIs on two home runs and two doubles, while adding a walk and a stolen base.
In the final game of the series on Sunday, he went 3-for-4 with two runs and a double.
Through 18 games, Baker is hitting .424 with three home runs, six doubles and four triples with 18 RBIs.
Last year, Baker earned the SAC player of the week honors for the week of Feb. 2-8.
The Stars play their first conference game of the season at 6 p.m. Friday against Southwestern Assemblies of God (Texas) at the Waxahachie Sports Complex in Waxahachie, Texas.
