Cook, Wilson of Stars reel in SAC weekly honors

OKLAHOMA CITY - Oklahoma City University swept the Sooner Athletic Conference weekly baseball awards as Reggie Wilson took player of the week and Dustin Cook became pitcher of the week for the week of March 16-22.
The Stars grabbed both the player of the week and pitcher of the week for the first time since March 10-16, 2014. Cook, a junior right-hander from Huffman, Texas, pulled in his second SAC pitcher of the week honor this season, while Wilson, a junior outfielder from Beaumont, Texas, picked up his first SAC player of the week accolade.
Wilson posted a .594 batting average, 19 hits, 15 runs scored, nine doubles, a triple, one home run, nine RBIs and a 1.031 slugging percentage during the week. He had three hits in five of OCU's eight games last week. Wilson led off the second game of OCU's doubleheader against Indiana Tech with a homer on Monday, March 16.
On the year, Wilson hits .435 with 11 doubles, four triples, two homers, 17 RBIs, 10 stolen bases and a .707 slugging percentage. Wilson ranks fourth in the NAIA at 1.44 runs scored per game.
Cook earned two wins with 12 strikeouts in 11 shutout innings pitched last week. Cook limited Indiana Tech and Southwestern Christian to six hits and four walks. He recorded his first shutout of 2015 in OCU's 5-0 win over conference foe Southwestern Christian.
Cook's season totals are a 5-0 record, 0.63 earned run average, three complete games and 50 strikeouts in 42.2 innings.
OCU improved its record to 25-6 with a 7-1 performance last week. The Stars, ranked 13th in the NAIA, face top-ranked Oklahoma Baptist at 6 p.m. Thursday in Shawnee, Okla. Watch the contest via live video stream.
