Stars suffer loss at Oklahoma Christian

OCU returns to Jim Wade Stadium at 6 p.m. Friday

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma Christian hung a 14-3 loss on Oklahoma City University on Tuesday at Dobson Field.
Caden Cleveland dealt the big blow with a three-run home run in the third inning. The Stars, ranked 12th in NAIA baseball, went to 25-12.
OCU mounted a rally in the fourth. Jared Baker led off the inning with a single. Baker scored on an error, then Mason Toole reached home on Chris Valdes' grounder.
In the ninth, the Stars scored their third run. Adonis Askew had a two-out pinch-hit single, then Ryan Wright added a base hit. Josh Dickey came through with a pinch-hit, RBI single for OCU.
Forrest Smith, a senior from Bakersfield, Calif., went 2-for-3, and Mason Toole, a junior from Mangum, Okla., was 2-for-4 with a run scored. Baker, a freshman from Edmond, Okla., went 1-for-3 and scored a run, and Connor Lynch, a junior from Marietta, Ga., was 1-for-2 with his sixth double this year.
Cale Russell took the loss for OCU, moving to 4-2.
Cleveland drove in four runs, while Blake Stringer had five RBIs for Oklahoma Christian.
The Stars return to Sooner Athletic Conference play against Southwestern Assemblies of God (Texas) at 6 p.m. Friday at Jim Wade Stadium.
