OCU completes three-game sweep of Mid-America Christian

Stars top Evangels 6-1, finish regular season at 32-16

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University topped Mid-America Christian 6-1 Saturday in its regular-season finale at James Curtis Field.
The Stars, ranked No. 14 in NAIA baseball, outscored the Evangels 31-1 in three games and completed the regular-season sweep. OCU improved to 32-16 overall and 20-7 in Sooner Athletic Conference play with the win.
Hunter Marcum singled to left field and drove in Adonis Askew from second base to give OCU a 1-0 lead in the top of the second.
Mid-America Christian's Jake Magness evened the score at 1-1 with an RBI single in the bottom of the fourth.
Connor Lynch broke the tie with a triple that plated Garrett Foster and Ryan Wright and made the score 3-1 in favor of the Stars in the top of the sixth.
Foster tripled to drive in Josh Dickey from first and later scored on an RBI single by Wright in the top of the eighth. Lynch capped the inning with a single to left that scored Wright and gave OCU the 6-1 advantage.
Shane Henderson struck out two and retired the side in the bottom of the ninth to close the door on the Evangels and give the Stars the 6-1 victory.
Starting pitcher Michael Nolan allowed one run on five hits with five strikeouts in six innings to pick up the win. Henderson struck out five in three scoreless innings in relief and was credited with a save.
Lynched went 3-for-4 with three RBIs and paced the Stars at the dish. Foster, Marcum and Wright followed with one RBI each.
The Stars will begin SAC Tournament play on May 2 at Jim Wade Stadium.
