East Central blanks OCU 9-0

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University suffered a 9-0 setback against East Central Tuesday at Jim Wade Stadium.
The Tigers pushed seven of their nine runs across in the fifth and sixth innings to hand OCU the 9-0 loss. The Stars, ranked No. 14 in NAIA baseball, moved to 29-16 with the loss.
Home runs from Casey Chenoweth, Tyler Huie and Luc Pomales powered the East Central offense. The Tigers led 2-0 after four innings and erupted for four runs in the fifth and three more in the sixth. East Central pitchers record 12 strikeouts on the night.
OCU's Cale Russell made the start and gave up two earned runs on four hits in 4.2 innings and was saddled with the loss. Matt Marsh surrendered three earned runs and struck out two in one inning of work. Josh Halbert, Shane Henderson, Holden Lyons and Roby Romero combined for 3.1 scoreless innings in relief.
Jared Baker went 1-for-3 and Hunter Marcum went 1-for-2 to lead OCU at the dish.
The Stars will return to Sooner Athletic Conference play against Mid-America Christian at 3 p.m. Thursday at James Curtis Field in Oklahoma City.
