Stars' Wieck nabs SAC pitcher of week

Junior left-hander named SAC hurler of week for second consecutive week

Brad Wieck's 15.0 strikeouts per nine innings tops the NAIA.
OKLAHOMA CITY – Brad Wieck of Oklahoma City University captured the Sooner Athletic Conference baseball pitcher of the week award for April 7-13.
Wieck, a junior from Canyon, Texas, struck out 12 batters in a complete-game three-hit, seven-inning shutout over Southwestern Assemblies of God (Texas) on Saturday. No base runners reached second base in the game, which Wieck completed in 91 pitches.
The left-hander took his second consecutive SAC pitcher of the week honor. Wieck had turned in a three-hit whitewash at Northwood (Texas) with 15 strikeouts in nine innings April 5.
On the season, Wieck holds a 3-3 record with a 3.00 earned run average and five saves. He has fanned 80 in 48 innings. Wieck leads the NAIA in strikeouts per nine innings (15.0) while ranking 11th in total strikeouts and 26th in saves.
