OCU’s Henderson helps Roswell Invaders to Pecos League title

Henderson helped the Invaders win a league-record 50 games

ROSWELL, N.M. – Former Oklahoma City University pitcher Davis Henderson helped the Roswell Invaders of the Pecos League to the 2013 Pecos League championship on July 29.
Henderson notched five strikeouts and a save in two appearances in the Pecos League Championship Series against the Las Vegas Train Robbers. The right-handed relief pitcher from Spring, Texas, struck out two and earned a save in Roswell's 7-6 victory in game No. 1. The following day, Henderson struck out the side in the top of the ninth inning to give the Invaders a 12-6 victory and the Pecos League title.
The Invaders went 50-17 on the season and swept the Alpine Cowboys in the Southern Division playoffs before sweeping Las Vegas in the championship series. Roswell is the first team in Pecos League history to win 50 games in a single season. Henderson boasted a 1.55 earned run average with three saves in 17.1 innings of work and tallied 22 strikeouts in 13 appearances on the season.
Henderson posted a record of 6-2 with an ERA of 2.93 and nine saves in 40 innings of work for the Stars in 2013. He struck out 47 batters while only walking seven. Henderson picked up second-team all-Sooner Athletic Conference acclaim as a senior and went 13-2 with a 2.31 ERA, nine saves and 99 strikeouts in 85.2 innings during his career at OCU.
The 10th-ranked Stars went 49-13 with their third regular-season SAC championship in a row while hosting an NAIA Championship Opening-Round Tournament for the fifth consecutive year. Seven Stars turned pro off this season's team. Cody Crabaugh and Chase Jensen were taken in the Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft, while Cody Ferrell signed with Cleveland Indians organization as a free agent and Ryan Gibson, Patrick Goelz and Chris Munoz joined the Evansville (Ind.) Otters of the Frontier League.
OCU has produced 145 professionals and 68 MLB draftees. OCU leads college baseball with 1,167 victories since 1991.
