Jamestown blanks Stars 3-0

OKLAHOMA CITY – Jamestown (N.D.) stunned Oklahoma City University 3-0 on Thursday at Jim Wade Stadium in the NAIA Baseball Championship Opening Round Oklahoma City Bracket.
Second-ranked OCU awaits the winner of the 11 a.m. Northwestern (Iowa)-USAO matchup at 6 p.m. Friday. Jamestown faces 15th-ranked Sterling (Kan.) at 2:30 p.m. Friday.
Jamestown's Blake Stewart blanked the Stars on two hits in a 133-pitch, complete-game effort. Stewart struck out 11 and walked four.
The Stars mustered singles by Cody Ferrell and Chase Jensen in the top of the second inning. OCU put two runners on third base against Stewart. Ferrell reached third base on an error in the fourth, and Jonathan Rodriguez took third on a balk in the seventh.
Stewart retired seven in a row from the second to the fourth. Stewart struck out the side in the ninth to close out the game.
Cody Crabaugh matched Stewart zero-for-zero through six innings. In the seventh, Nathan Skrowronek and Matthew Achter had RBI singles. Spencer Flaten scored on a passed ball in the eighth.
Crabaugh fanned five and allowed two earned runs on four hits, three walks and two hit batsmen. Crabaugh, a senior right-hander from Edmond, Okla., took his second loss of the year, moving to 13-2.
OCU suffered its first shutout loss since losing 1-0 to Mid-America Christian on April 6. The Stars were shut out at home for the first time since a 4-0 setback to Northwood (Texas) on Feb. 8.
The Stars are seeking their sixth consecutive trip to the NAIA World Series. OCU needs to win three in a row to capture its fifth opening-round tournament in a row and get into the World Series.
