Stars’ Jensen collects NAIA player of the week honor

Jensen tallied nine RBIs, four home runs, two triples and a double against Wayland Baptist

Chase Jensen leads OCU with 10 home runs on the season.
KANSAS CITY, Mo. Chase Jensen of Oklahoma City University was named NAIA baseball player of the week Tuesday.
Jensen was selected based on his performances from April 15-21 and was chosen out of a pool of conference/independent/unaffiliated group winners.
Jensen, a native of Arlington, Texas, helped top-ranked OCU win three of a four-game series at Wayland Baptist (Texas) April 19-20. He led the Stars with a .667 (10-for-15) batting average and tallied nine RBIs, four home runs, two triples and a double. He racked up 27 total bases and a 1.800 slugging percentage, while adding two steals and walking twice.
In the first game, the 6-foot-4 shortstop powered the Stars with two home runs, including the second of back-to-back homers in the seventh to extend the OCU lead to 11-1. He finished the game 3-for-4 with three runs scored and two RBIs.
Jensen concluded the day with a 2-for-3 effort in the nightcap, including a one-out RBI triple down the right-field line.
Jensen added his third home run of the series in the top of the third in game No. 3. The blast drove in three runs and gave the Stars a 6-1 advantage.
The senior ended the week with three hits including another home run and a triple.
On the season, Jensen is tied for the team lead with 10 home runs, while ranking second on the squad in RBIs (44) and total bases (100).

The 41-9 Stars will return to action in a 3 p.m. doubleheader against No. 15 Rogers State Thursday at the Diamond Sports Complex in Claremore, Okla.
