Southern Nazarene edges OCU 3-2

The Stars were outhit 10-6 by the Crimson Storm and moved to 26-7 on the season

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University fell to Southern Nazarene 3-2 Tuesday at Jim Wade Stadium.
The Stars, ranked No.2 in NAIA baseball, were outhit 10-6 by the Crimson Storm and moved to 26-7 on the season.
Jonathan Rodriguez singled and drove in Chase Jensen in the bottom of the first inning to give the Stars a 1-0 advantage.
Southern Nazarene evened the score in the top of the second when Jacob Inbody singled to right-center field and drove in a run.
Riley Morrow's RBI single broke the tie in the top of the fourth and gave southern Nazarene a 2-1 lead.
In the bottom of sixth, Kale Gaden clubbed a solo home run over the right-field fence to even the score at 2-2.
Southern Nazarene retook the lead when Inbody was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded. Patrick Goelz record a pair of outs to limit the Crimson Storm to one run in the inning.
The Southern Nazarene pitching staff held the Stars' bats in check in the bottom of the ninth and took the 3-2 victory.
Shane Henderson got the start and struck out three in three innings of work. Goelz, Davis Henderson, Chad Nelson, Will Patrigo and Ricky Spain all made relief appearances and Nelson was saddled with the loss.
Gaden and Rodriguez each drove in a run to lead the Stars at the dish.
OCU will return to action in a 4 p.m. doubleheader against USAO Thursday at Jim Wade Stadium.
