Howell of OCU chosen SAC pitcher of week

Senior from Krum, Texas, owns first no-hitter for Stars since 2007

OKLAHOMA CITY – Derek Howell of Oklahoma City University became Sooner Athletic Conference baseball pitcher of the week for March 18-24.
Howell, a senior right-hander from Krum, Texas, notched the Stars' first no-hitter since Ben Langridge no-hit Rogers State on April 17, 2007 in Claremore, Okla.
In a 12-0 win over St. Gregory's, Howell worked all seven innings with two walks and five strikeouts on Thursday in Shawnee, Okla.
On the year, Howell has a 5-1 record, 1.07 earned run average, three complete games, two shutouts and 36 strikeouts against only nine walks in 50.2 innings pitched.
OCU, ranked fourth in the NAIA, takes on Southern Nazarene at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Jim Wade Stadium. The Stars carry a 26-6 record into the contest. Follow the game via live stats, audio and video by clicking here.
