OCU suffers 3-1 setback to Northwood

Davidson nails Stars' only extra-base hit of day

CEDAR HILL, Texas – Northwood (Texas) dealt Oklahoma City University a 3-1 loss Tuesday at Knights Field.
Herb Romero nailed a two-run home run for Northwood (18-6) to make the difference in the game. OCU, ranked fourth in NAIA baseball, moved to 20-6.
OCU cut Northwood's lead to 2-1 in the top of the fifth inning. Mason Toole led off the inning with a bunt hit. Chris Muñoz followed with an infield hit, then Walker Davidson loaded the bases with a bunt hit. The Stars scored on Jonathan Rodriguez's ground ball.
Joee Reyna doubled in another run for Northwood in the bottom of the fifth.
OCU stranded 12 runners. The Stars had seven hits and reached base four times via walk and four times on hit by pitch.
Davidson, a senior from Berryhill, Okla., went 2-for-5 with the Stars' only extra-base hit of the afternoon, a double in the ninth. Muñoz, Toole and Jonathan Sigado each went 1-for-3. Cody Ferrell had OCU's other hit.
Davis Henderson pitched the first four innings for the Stars. The senior right-hander from Spring, Texas, allowed two runs on three hits in taking his first loss as a Star, dipping to 5-1 on the year. Cody Crabaugh worked two innings, and Patrick Goelz threw two more for OCU.
The Stars meet Briar Cliff (Iowa) at 3 p.m. Friday at Jim Wade Stadium.
