Stars dump Texas Wesleyan 11-4

Muñoz went 3-for-5 with four RBIs to help OCU improve to 5-0 on the season

FORT WORTH, Texas – Oklahoma City University downed Texas Wesleyan 11-4 Tuesday at LaGrave Field.
The Stars, ranked No. 4 in NAIA baseball, got four RBIs from Chris Muñoz and three from Forrest Smith to pick up the win the move to 5-0 on the young season.
After falling behind 1-0 in the bottom of the first inning, Muñoz doubled to right field and drove in two runs to give the Stars a 2-1 lead in the top of the second.
Smith homered over the right-center field wall in the top of the third to plate Jonathan Rodriguez and give OCU a 4-1 lead.
Texas Wesleyan answered with a three-run bottom of the third to even the score at 4-4.
Solo home runs from Muñoz and Smith in fourth and fifth innings put OCU back on top 6-4.
Later in the top of the fifth, Brayden Brumley drove in Jonathan Sigado with a sacrifice bunt and Muñoz followed with an RBI single to left to make the score 8-4 in favor of the Stars.
Walker Davidson tripled down the right field line and drove in two runs in the top of the seventh. Chase Jensen drove in Davidson with a double to right and stretched the OCU lead to 11-4.
Davis Henderson tossed a three-up-three-down bottom of the ninth with two strikeouts to give OCU the 11-4 victory.
Patrick Goelz pitched five innings and struck out three batters to pick up the win and move to 1-0 as a starter.
Ricky Spain, Will Patrigo and Henderson combine to throw four scoreless innings.
Muñoz went 5-for-3 with four RBIs and Smith went 2-for-4 with three RBIs to lead the Stars at the dish.
OCU will return to action in a doubleheader against Northwood (Texas) at 1 p.m. Friday at Jim Wade Stadium.
