OKLAHOMA CITY – Chad Carman of Oklahoma City University has been honored as the CoSIDA college-division baseball academic all-America of the year, while Brian Fisher took third-team honors.
Carman, a senior catcher from Midwest City, Okla., became a two-time academic all-American after garnering third-team honors last year. Carman and Fisher, a senior second baseman from Spring, Texas, were academic all-district this year.
Working towards his master's degree in business administration, Carman has posted a 4.00 grade-point average in his graduate work. Carman earned his bachelor's in information technology from OCU with a 3.97 GPA.
Carman's accolades include two-time CoSIDA academic all-district, two-time Jim Wade Award winner as OCU's male student-athlete of the year and NAIA scholar-athlete. Off the field, he gives time to Big Brothers Big Sisters.
As a senior, Carman has hit .387 with 19 doubles, two triples, 11 home runs and 50 RBIs. Carman is a three-time all-Sooner Athletic Conference performer, two-time SAC gold glover, 2010 honorable-mention NAIA all-American and 2010 NAIA gold glove award winner.
In his career, Carman has amassed a .380 average, 72 runs, 262 hits, 65 doubles, seven triples, 30 homers, 165 RBIs and a .993 fielding percentage.
Fisher amassed a 3.67 GPA while majoring in biology at OCU. Fisher has been a two-time SAC gold glover and an NAIA scholar-athlete award winner.

The third-ranked Stars (48-11) play top-ranked LSU-Shreveport at 5 CDT tonight  in the NAIA World Series. Carman has been a member of OCU's last five NAIA World Series teams, redshirting with OCU's 2008 squad. To watch, listen to or follow the game on live stats, click here.

Carman joined Ben Bench (men's golf, 2009, 2010), Erika Callaway (women's tennis, 1996, 1997), Mindy Crabaugh (softball, 2008, 2009), Erika Garbrecht (women's soccer, 2007, 2008) and Lindsey Voss (softball, 2001, 2002) as two-time CoSIDA academic all-Americans from OCU.
The College Sports Information Directors of America choose the academic all-American team based on the athletes' GPAs and success in competition. Honorees must have a 3.30 or better cumulative GPA, attain academic all-district, then go through a process of voting by sports information directors.
