OCU sweeps St. Gregory's

The Stars downed the Cavaliers 6-2 and 12-5 to complete the sweep

Dane Phillips went 5-for-5 with five RBIs and a home run in two games against St. Gregory's Saturday.
OKLAHOMA CITY – Third-ranked Oklahoma City University swept St. Gregory's 6-2 and 12-5 Saturday at Jim Wade Stadium.
The sweep moves the Stars, ranked No. 3 in NAIA baseball, to 28-6 overall and 16-2 in Sooner Athletic Conference play.
St. Gregory's took an early 2-0 lead heading to the bottom of the third inning. Cody Ferrell doubled to left-center field to drive in Brian Fisher and make the score 2-1. Chad Carman followed with a sacrifice fly to left to plate Ferrell and tie the score at 2-2.
Later in the inning, Miguel Beltran slugged a two-run home run to right and gave OCU the lead 4-2.
In the bottom of the fifth, Dane Phillips hit a towering 2-run blast over the right-field fence to stretch OCU's lead to 6-2.
Relief-pitcher Patrick Goelz induced a bases-loaded ground ball with two outs to pick up his third save of the season and give the Stars the 6-2 victory.
Starter Cody Crabaugh allowed two runs on five hits in six innings of work. The right-hander struck out five and got the win to move to 6-2 on the season.
Beltran and Phillips led the Stars at the plate with two RBIs apiece.
In game No. 2, Beltran drove in Chris Muñoz with a double to right center and later scored on a Phillips double down the right-field line to give the Stars a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first.
OCU scored nine runs on 11 hits in the bottom of the second. Carman, Ferrell, Fisher, Kale Gaden, Rich Hawkins, Phillips and Jonathan Sigado all drove in runs to give OCU an 11-0 lead.
Randy Vann scored on a double-play ball in the bottom of the sixth to push the Stars' lead to 12-4.
Relief-pitcher Allen Townsend gave up a run in the top of the seventh, but retired the side to give OCU the 12-5 victory.
Blake Schwartz allowed three runs on two hits in five innings of work. The right-hander struck out nine to pick up the win and move to 7-1 on the year.
Phillips went 3-for-3 with three RBIs to lead OCU at the dish. Fisher finished with two RBIs and a triple.
The Stars will travel to take on Northwood (Texas) at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in Cedar Hill, Texas.
