MidAmerica Nazarene outslugs Stars 8-4

OCU gave up six runs on three long balls in the 8-4 loss

Brian Fisher drew a walk and was hit by a pitch against MidAmerica Nazarene.
OKLAHOMA CITY – No. 1 Oklahoma City University fell 8-4 to MidAmerica Nazarene (Kan.) Friday at Jim Wade Stadium.
The Stars outhit the Pioneers 9-6, but MidAmerica Nazarene slugged three homeruns in the first three innings to put the game out of reach. The loss moves OCU to 6-2 on the season.
MidAmerica Nazarene took an early lead in the top of the first after Josh Greer took Stars' pitcher Cody Crabaugh deep to right field to plate three runs and make the score 3-0.
Cody Ferrell led off the bottom of the inning with a triple in the left field gap and Chris Muñoz followed with a two-run homerun to right to make the score 3-2.
Later in the inning Jonathan Sigado and Rich Hawkins each drove in a run to give the Stars a 4-3 lead.
MidAmerica Nazarene got back-to-back homeruns in the top of the third and pushed across two more runs in the fourth to make the score 8-4.
After the first inning the Pioneer pitching held the OCU bats in check to take the 8-4 win.
Crabaugh struck out seven in 4.2 innings of work, but allowed eight runs on six hits. Davis Henderson pitched a scoreless 2.1 innings and struck out four batters.
Muñoz finished 3-for-4 at the dish with 2 RBIs and hit his second homerun of the season. Hawkins and Sigado both went 1-for-4 with an RBI.
The Stars will take on MidAmerica Nazarene at noon and Bellevue (Neb.) at 5 p.m. Saturday at Jim Wade Stadium.
