OCU wins 2-1 on the road at Southwestern

Glazner, Skillern score to propel Stars to victory

Brenna Skillern netted her first goal of the season against Southwestern Oklahoma State.
WEATHERFORD, Okla. – Oklahoma City University women's soccer got back on track Thursday by defeating Southwestern Oklahoma State 2-1 on the road.
With the win, OCU, ranked 13th in the NAIA, moved to 4-1 on the season. Allie Glazner, a freshman from Edmond, Okla., provided the winning goal in the second half.
The Stars got on the scoreboard first when they were given a penalty kick in the 14th minute. Junior Brenna Skillern took advantage and put the ball in the back of the net to make the score 1-0.
Southwestern Oklahoma State evened the score right before halftime when Joise Price scored on a corner kick in the 47th minute to make the score 1-1.
Oklahoma City regained the lead in the 52nd minute when Glazner beat Southwestern Oklahoma State goalkeeper Chelsey Dodd on an assist from senior Lauren Haymans to make the score 2-1.
Sophomore goalkeeper Alissa Reed made three saves in the second half to help keep Southwestern Oklahoma State off the scoreboard and give the Stars a 2-1 victory.
Reed allowed one goal and recorded three saves in 90 minutes of action.
OCU fired 13 shots on goal in 17 attempts and only gave up four shots on goal in six attempts.
The Stars will return to the pitch against Houston-Victoria at 1 p.m. Sept. 25 at Stars Field.
