Oklahoma Christian takes 11-10 win over OCU

Oklahoma Christian erases 10-9 Stars lead

Dearth Parker posted three hits and three RBIs on Thursday.

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University dropped an 11-10 slugfest to Oklahoma Christian on Thursday at Dobson Field.

Oklahoma Christian's Clint Bowker scored the winning run on Dustin Andrews' infield hit in the bottom of the ninth inning. OCU, ranked third in NAIA baseball, fell to 36-8, 22-3 in the Sooner Athletic Conference, and Oklahoma Christian went to 23-14, 15-10.

Terrance Jackson provided the Stars a 10-9 lead with a double down the left-field foul line with two out in the sixth.

OCU led 9-6 in the fifth. Mark Purser drew a bases-loaded walk, then Ruben Sosa got hit by pitch with the bases full to tie the game 6-6. Dearth Parker hit a sacrifice fly to give the Stars a 7-6 edge. Kirk Walker drove in two more runs with a single to left.

The Stars plated three runs to tie the score 4-4 in the third. Sosa scored on Parker's fielder's choice grounder. Julien Pollard and Scott Dalrymple each nailed RBI doubles.

In the ninth, Bowker led off the inning with a walk. Josh Balch had a sacrifice bunt to move Bowker to second, then Bowker stole third to be in position to score on Andrews' hit.

Parker, a senior from Roff, Okla., went 3-for-5, scored a run and drove in three runs for OCU. Sosa, a junior from Lawrence, Mass., was 3-for-4 with three runs scored and an RBI, and Walker, a senior from Bakersfield, Calif., went 2-for-5 with two RBIs. Dalrymple, a senior from Beaverton, Ore., went 1-for-3, scored twice and drove in a run.

Taylor Parcus (1-1) picked up the win, while Cody Crabaugh (4-4) took the loss.

The Stars meet Oklahoma Christian at 7 p.m. Friday at Jim Wade Stadium.
