BARTLESVILLE, Okla. – Oklahoma City University scored three runs in the ninth inning and rallied for a 9-7 victory over Oklahoma Wesleyan on Wednesday night.
The Stars, ranked third in NAIA baseball, scored on Garrett Regan's sacrifice fly, an error and Kirk Walker's RBI base hit in the ninth to break a 6-6 tie. OCU improved to 33-8.
Steve Vitale, a senior from East Meadow, N.Y., went 3-for-4, scored twice and drove in a run, while Brian Fisher, a sophomore from Spring, Texas, went 2-for-4 with a run scored and RBI for the Stars.
Chad Carman was 2-for-5 with a run scored and an RBI, while Matt Presley was 2-for-2 with an RBI. Nathan Bryan went 2-for-4 and scored twice.
Cody Crabaugh, a freshman from Edmond, Okla., pitched 1.1 innings and picked up the victory, moving to 5-1 on the year. Zac Coplon, a junior from Claremore, Okla., worked the bottom of the ninth for his first save of the year.
Down 4-1, OCU rallied in the sixth to tie the game. Fisher led off the inning with a home run. Carman knocked in a run on a base hit, then eventually scored on an error.
Presley came off the bench to rake an RBI double in the eighth to put the Stars up 6-5.
OCU returns to Sooner Athletic Conference play, facing St. Gregory's at 2 p.m. Thursday in Shawnee, Okla.
