OCU pounds Oklahoma Baptist 11-1

Terrance Jackson fanned 10 and logged 115 pitches Saturday in picking up the victory.

SHAWNEE, Okla. – Oklahoma City University walloped Oklahoma Baptist 11-1 on Saturday at Bison Field to take the weekend series 2-to-1.

The Stars, ranked second in NAIA baseball, moved to 32-7, 16-2 in the Sooner Athletic Conference. OCU put together two four-run innings.

Steve Vitale sparked the Stars by hammering a three-run home run over the left-center wall in the first inning. Garrett Regan scored on an error to put OCU ahead 4-0.

In the fourth, Brian Fisher drove in a run with a base hit to left field. The Stars went up 7-0 on an OBU error, and Kirk Walker had an RBI groundout.

Terrance Jackson nailed a two-run double to center, and Walker added an RBI double in the fifth.

Jackson, a junior from Greenville, Ala., notched the win by allowing one run on four hits and two walks in 5.2 innings of work. Jackson (5-1) struck out 10. Brad Riddle pitched one scoreless inning, and Mark Purser got the final out.

Jackson went 2-for-5 with two RBIs, and Vitale, a senior from East Meadow, N.Y., was 2-for-4 with a run scored and three RBIs. Fisher, a sophomore from Spring, Texas, was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI, and Chad Carman was 2-for-4.

OCU faces Northwood (Texas) at 6 p.m. Monday at Jim Wade Stadium.
