OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University blanked Oklahoma Christian 11-0 on Thursday at Dobson Field.
Terrance Jackson and Mark Purser each drove in three runs, while Dustin Williams notched the first complete-game shutout of his OCU career. The Stars, ranked third in NAIA baseball, improved to 28-6, 12-1 in the Sooner Athletic Conference.
Purser, a junior from Spokane, Wash., nailed a three-run home run in the seventh inning to go with an RBI groundout in the sixth. Purser scored twice and went 1-for-4.
Jackson also clouted a three-run shot over the center-field wall in the fifth. Jackson, a junior from Greenville, Ala., went 2-for-4 with a run and three RBIs.
Garrett Regan was 3-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBIs, while Steve Vitale went 3-for-4 and scored twice. Brian Fisher was 2-for-4 with a run scored and RBI, Chad Carman was 2-for-3 and Nathan Bryan went 1-for-2 and scored three runs.
OCU finished with 14 hits. The Stars also had a three-run sixth inning as Fisher had an RBI base hit and Regan scored on a wild pitch.
Regan, a senior from Calgary, Alberta, Canada, put OCU on the scoreboard with a second-inning RBI double.
Williams, a senior right-hander from Norman, Okla., allowed three hits and struck out eight. Williams retired nine of Oklahoma Christian's last 10 batters. Oklahoma Christian managed only two runners in scoring position against Williams.
Oklahoma Christian got back-to-back two-out singles in the fourth, but Justin Ebert grounded out to second base with runners at first and third.
OCU faces Oklahoma Christian at 7 p.m. Friday at Jim Wade Stadium.
