MUSKOGEE, Okla. – Oklahoma City University picked up its 10th consecutive win, prevailing 9-5 over Bacone on Tuesday at Warrior Field.
OCU nailed four home runs against Bacone. The Stars, ranked third in NAIA baseball, moved to 27-6.
The Stars have averaged 12.3 runs per game during their win streak. OCU coach Denney Crabaugh credited an improved offense for a key to the Stars surge.
“We have started swinging the bats, that's the biggest part,” Crabaugh said. “Our hitting has come around.”
Garrett Regan, a senior from Calgary, Alberta, Canada, went 3-for-3 with two walks, two runs scored and one of OCU's homers. Kirk Walker, a junior from Bakersfield, Calif., was 4-for-5 with two RBIs.
Chad Carman, Terrance Jackson and Drew McAdoo each pounded homers. OCU had 14 hits Tuesday.
Cody Crabaugh, a freshman from Edmond, Okla., notched the victory by working two hitless innings while allowing two walks. Crabaugh improved to 4-1 this year. Crabaugh relieved Matt Presley, who worked two innings and allowed an unearned run on one hit and a hit batsman.
Brad Riddle, a senior from Bethany, Okla., worked out of a bases-loaded, none-out jam in the eighth inning to record his third save of the year.
The Stars face Oklahoma Christian at 7 p.m. Thursday in an away contest.
