OCU finish off Mid-America 6-1, 12-0

Kirk Walker had an RBI double and a sacrifice fly in the second game Thursday.

OKLAHOMA CITY – Clint Maune of Oklahoma City University worked a perfect game through three innings en route to helping the Stars sweep Mid-America Christian 6-1, 12-0 on Thursday at Jim Wade Stadium.

The Stars, ranked third in NAIA baseball, improved to 13-1, 3-0 in the Sooner Athletic Conference.

Maune, a junior left-hander from Yukon, Okla., finished retiring 15 of 16 batters faced. He allowed one hit in five innings and struck out four on the way to his first win as a Star. He registered 32 strikes in 60 pitches thrown as OCU completed the sweep.

Pete Fuertado's single leading off the fourth provided Mid-America Christian its only runner of the second game.

Dearth Parker, a junior from Roff, Okla., went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBIs, while Garrett Regan, a senior from Calgary, Alberta, Canada, was 2-for-3 with two runs scored. Brian Fisher, a sophomore from Spring, Texas, went 1-for-2 and pounded a three-run home run.

OCU scored three first-inning runs on Kirk Walker's RBI double, Matt Presley's run-scoring double and Parker's RBI base hit. Mark Purser drove in another run on a base hit in the second.

Fisher nailed an 0-2 offering over the left-field fence for a three-run blast in the third to put OCU ahead 11-0. Austin Messerli added a pinch-hit single to drive in another run in the fifth.

In the first game, Regan went 2-for-3 with three runs driven in, while Chad Carman had three RBIs. Presley, a junior from Colorado Springs, Colo., had two hits in four at-bats.

Dustin Williams, a senior righty from Norman, Okla., improved to 3-0 on the year. Williams fanned nine in seven innings while allowing three hits.

Carman, a sophomore from Midwest City, Okla., cranked a three-run homer in the second to put the Stars on the scoreboard. Regan added a two-run double in the third, then drove in another run on a double down the left-field foul line in the fifth.

The Stars are scheduled to face Lyon (Ark.) in a 2 p.m. doubleheader Saturday at Jim Wade Stadium.
