OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University dispatched Southwestern Oklahoma State 18-5 on Tuesday at Pirate Field.
The Stars, ranked third in NAIA baseball, scored 17 consecutive runs to erase a 2-0 first-inning deficit. OCU (8-1) pounded out 14 hits and was hit by pitch seven times.
Terrance Jackson, a junior from Greenville, Ala., went 3-for-3 with a double and four RBIs while picking up the victory on the mound. Jackson (2-0) struck out five in four innings of work.
Dearth Parker, a junior from Roff, Okla., was 3-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBIs, while Nathan Bryan, a junior from Andrews, Texas, went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBIs for OCU.
The Stars used Parker's RBI single and Bryan's run-scoring base hit to plate the go-ahead runs in the bottom of the first.
OCU went for eight runs in the second. Matt Presley started the second-inning scoring with an RBI groundout, and Chad Carman drove in two runs with a base hit. Bryan picked up an RBI single, then Scott Dalrymple brought in another run on a single to left field. Jackson helped himself with a two-run double, then Kirk Walker drove in one more on a double to the right-center gap.
In the third, Dalrymple brought in a run by getting hit by pitch with the bases loaded. Jackson drove in two more runs on a base hit to right.
OCU is scheduled to face Kansas Wesleyan at 11 a.m., then Missouri Valley at 4 p.m. Saturday at Jim Wade Stadium.
