Stars bang out 28 hits in two baseball wins

BARTLESVILLE, Okla. – Oklahoma City University pitching allowed only three hits on the day in a 12-2 win over Lyon (Ark.) and a 12-0 victory over Oklahoma Wesleyan on Saturday.

The Stars pounded out 28 hits, including four home runs as Steve Vitale clouted two in the second game. OCU, ranked third in NAIA baseball, improved to 6-0.

In the first game, Dustin Williams worked a perfect game through 5.1 innings. Williams, a senior right-hander from Norman, Okla., finished allowing two runs on two hits over six innings.

Matt Presley sparked the OCU offense with a two-run homer in the first inning. Presley, a junior from Colorado Springs, Colo., drove in five runs during the first game.

Chad Carman went 2-for-4 with an RBI, and Kirk Walker was 2-for-4 with a run driven in. Terrance Jackson went 2-for-5 and scored three times.

In the second game, Garrett Parker allowed one hit and struck out six in four innings of work. Zac Coplon struck out two in the final inning.

Vitale, a senior from East Meadow, N.Y., went 4-for-4 and drove in four runs. He nailed two homers and a triple.

Garrett Regan, a senior from Calgary, Alberta, Canada, was 3-for-4 with a homer, three RBIs and two runs scored. Scott Dalrymple went 2-for-4 and drove in three runs.

OCU has added a game to its schedule against Peru State (Neb.) at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Putnam City High School, 5300 NW 50th Street in Oklahoma City.
