BETHANY, Okla. – Oklahoma City University baseball defeated Southern Nazarene 15-4 on Friday in Bethany, Okla. in an NAIA top-20 matchup.
The Stars, currently ranked second in the NAIA, improved to 48-7, 24-6 in the Sooner Athletic Conference. Brent Weaver hit his 35th home run as OCU got to 153 homers.
The Stars posted five runs in the fifth inning. Landon Camp and B.J. Wheeler both knocked out a home run to right field. Wheeler, a senior from Abilene, Texas, had a two-run blast and went 2-for-5 with three RBIs.
Weaver, a senior from Midwest City, also had a home run against SNU in the top of the fourth. Weaver went 5-for-6 with one RBI.
Kirk Walker, a sophomore from Bakersfield, Calif., went 4-for-6 with a game-high four RBIs. Walker smacked out a home run over the right field wall in the eighth inning.
Michael Bryant, a senior from Sperry, Okla., recorded the win for the Stars giving up no hits with one strikeout. Justin Harper, a junior from Phoenix, threw the first three innings for OCU giving up three runs on seven hits with four strikeouts.
The Stars will begin SAC tournament play on Monday in Shawnee, Okla.
