OCU blisters Oklahoma Christian 17-3

Garrett Parker picked up his seventh win of the year.

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University racked up 22 hits and five home runs in a 17-3 victory over Oklahoma Christian on Friday at Dobson Field.

Garrett Parker improved to 7-0, and Brent Weaver nailed his 25th homer of the year. The Stars, ranked second in NAIA baseball, moved to 38-5, 17-4 in the Sooner Athletic Conference. Oklahoma Christian went to 16-18, 8-12.

B.J. Wheeler started OCU's scoring with an RBI single in the first inning. Then Jason Machado pounded a three-run homer over right-center field.

Brandon Moss hammered a three-run blast to left to put the Stars up 7-2 in the third.

OCU scored the game's final 10 runs. David Mann drove in another run with a base hit in the sixth.

Weaver led off the seventh with a solo shot over the left-field wall. Weaver, a senior from Midwest City, Okla., surpassed his season total from a year ago. Mann had an RBI single in the inning.

Moss and Machado each brought in a run in the eighth. Moss had a sacrifice fly, and Machado hit an RBI base hit.

Mann started OCU's five-run ninth with a homer to right. Weaver drove in a run with a single before Wheeler clouted a three-run homer to left.

Wheeler, a senior from Abilene, Texas, went 5-for-5 with four runs scored and four RBIs. Mann, a junior from Albuquerque, N.M., went 4-for-5 with three RBIs and a run scored, and Steve Vitale went 4-for-6 with three runs scored. Machado, a senior from Frisco, Texas, was 3-for-6 with two runs scored and four runs driven in.

Weaver was 2-for-4 with two RBIs and four runs scored. Moss, a senior from Norman, Okla., was 2-for-4 with four RBIs.

Parker, a junior right-hander from Duncanville, Texas, worked eight innings and fanned 10 batters. Parker allowed two earned runs on eight hits and two walks.

OCU will face Oklahoma Wesleyan in a 2 p.m. doubleheader Saturday at Jim Wade Stadium. OCU's broadcast will return Saturday with Andrew Himes and John Ragsdale on the call. Click here to listen.
