OCU sweeps St. Gregory's 11-0, 10-2

Kirk Walker went 1-for-4 with a home run in the second game.

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University defeated St. Gregory's 11-0, ­­10-2 on Monday at Jim Wade Stadium. 
The Stars, currently ranked second in NAIA baseball, improved to 33-3, 13-2 in the Sooner Athletic Conference.
In the first game, the Stars recorded eight runs in the first inning. 
Jason Machado, a senior from Anaheim, Calif., went 3-for-3 batting in three runs for the Stars.

A single up the middle from Brandon Moss in the first inning scored the first two runs of the game. Moss, a senior from Norman, Okla., went 1-for-2 with two RBIs. Landon Camp, a senior from Edmond, Okla., knocked one out to left field in the first inning, recording three RBIs for the Stars.

Garrett Parker, a junior from Duncanville, Texas, threw four innings for the Stars and recorded his fifth win on the season. Parker posted eight strikeouts, giving up three hits.

In the second game, OCU put up four runs in the second inning. Kirk Walker, a sophomore from Bakersfield, Calif., started off the inning with a home run to left field. Sammy Lee, a senior from Ninnekah, Okla., followed with a sac fly to right field to score another run in the inning. Steve Vitale singled to right field for another RBI in the inning.

Lee sent one out of the park in center field in the third inning for two RBIs. Lee went 3-for-4 with four RBIs. Machado followed in the fourth inning with his second home run of the day over the left field wall. Vitale, a junior from East Meadow, N.Y., followed suit in the fifth inning with another homer for the Stars. Vitale went 3-for-3, batting in three runs.

David Odquist, a senior from Midwest City, Okla., took the mound for the Stars, recording his sixth win on the season. Odquist threw six innings and had 12 strikeouts, giving up four hits and two runs.  

The Stars will face Bacone Tuesday at 3 p.m. at Jim Wade Stadium.
