OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University overcame a 5-0 deficit to defeat St. Gregory's 11-6 on Thursday at Jim Wade Stadium. The Stars, currently ranked second in the NAIA, improved to 31-3, 11-2 in the Sooner Athletic Conference.
Sammy Lee, a senior from Ninnekah, Okla., went 2-for-3, knocking in two runs. Lee's double to left field in the fourth inning scored Kirk Walker and Jason Machado. The Stars scored three runs in the fourth inning bringing the score to 5-3.
The Stars scored six runs in the sixth inning, taking the 11-6 lead. David Mann, a junior from Albuquerque, N.M., hit a two-run home run to left-center field, scoring Landon Camp. Mann went 1-for-3 with two RBIs on the day. Brent Weaver, a senior from Midwest City, went 3-for-4 batting in two runs. Weaver knocked in Lee in the sixth inning with a single to right field.
Justin Harper, a junior from Phoenix, threw six innings for the Stars, recording his seventh win on the season. Harper posted eight strikeouts, giving up seven hits and six runs. Zac Coplon, a sophomore from Claremore, Okla., threw two innings for the Stars with two strikeouts and giving up one hit.
The Stars will face St. Gregory's on Monday at 4 p.m. in a doubleheader at Jim Wade Stadium.
