OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University blasted Briar Cliff (Iowa) 21-3 on Friday at Jim Wade Stadium.
The Stars, ranked second in the NAIA by Collegiate Baseball, went to 11-0 on the year. OCU sent five home runs out of the yard.
Landon Camp, a senior from Edmond, Okla., pounded two homers and went 3-for-3 with six RBIs and four runs scored. Steve Vitale, Brent Weaver and B.J. Wheeler also hit homers.
Vitale's solo shot scored OCU's first run and sparked the Stars to a six-run first inning. Camp added a two-run triple, Kirk Walker drove in a run with a base hit and David Grellner had a sacrifice fly.
In the second, Wheeler had a three-run blast, and Camp made it back-to-back with a solo shot. Camp went deep again with a man on in the fourth.
David Odquist, a senior left-hander from Midwest City, Okla., benefited from OCU's production. Odquist struck out nine in five innings to get his second win of the year. Michael Bryant followed with a 1-2-3 inning.
Wheeler, a senior from Abilene, Texas, went 4-for-4 with four runs driven in. Chad Carman went 4-for-5, and Vitale was 3-for-5 with two RBIs and three runs scored.
OCU takes on Missouri Valley at 4 p.m. Saturday at Jim Wade Stadium.
