Crawford has only goal in 1-0 OCU win

OKLAHOMA CITY ? Oklahoma City University finished its regular-season home women?s soccer schedule with a 1-0 win over East Central on Thursday at Stars Field.
Jennifer Crawford, a junior from Owasso, Okla., had the game?s only goal on an unassisted shot in the 12th minute. Crawford passed the ball to herself over the head of the goalie for an easy shot.
?Jennifer is playing very well at the moment,? OCU coach Brian Harvey said. ?She has played well the last few games.?
Crawford led all players with six shots, four of them on goal.
OCU improved to 11-2-1, while East Central fell to 2-14-1.
The Stars held onto the lead with solid defensive play. Oklahoma City sophomore Jessica Caudle performed two consecutive tackles to stop a run by East Central.
?She does very well when our outside fullbacks go forward,? Harvey said.
The defense also got a boost from Erika Garbrecht, returning from an injury. Harvey said she looked very good in her return.
?That was important for us to get a run out for Erika in a non-conference game,? Harvey said.
The Stars wrapped up the home slate going 7-2-1.
The women play at 2 p.m. Saturday at Northwestern in Alva, Okla.
